The Measure of True Strength

Join us this week as we resume our series in the Gospel of Matthew from verse 5:5, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”

The first four chapters of Matthew’s Gospel have been the introduction to the King of the Jews, the Messiah, Jesus Christ into this world, his baptism by John, temptations in the wilderness and the calling of his first disciples.

Chapter 5 begins what can only be categorized as the greatest sermon ever preached, by anyone, at any time—The Sermon on the Mount and Beginning with the Beatitudes!

After calling his disciples and taking them briefly on their first road trip, Jesus now sees the crowd of people who are following and he goes to the highest point on a local mountain and begins to preach the message that will change the world of that day and the world that follows.
