We are followers of the one true Jesus Christ, who love God, love our neighbours and love Squamish. We value Jesus above all, authenticity, creativity and generosity and seek to engage our culture with the amazing grace of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We don’t pretend to have our lives all together, but we do turn our lives over to an awesome God who does.</itunes:summary>

Man’s fall from God’s intended position and place for them is certainly tragic, however we see hope in both the judgment of God, the punishment necessary for sin, and in the foreshadowing of God’s redemptive plan for us in Jesus Christ!

On Sunday, September 13th, we will continue our look into Genesis chapter 3 and the results of Adam and Eve’s disobedience. By listening to the serpent’s lies about the very Word of God, they traded trust in God alone and believed the lie.

God’s judgement of sin is quick, decisive and final. Adam will be held responsible by God for the entrance of sin into His perfect creation and the consequences will be real.

Speaker: Glenn Davies
Date: September 13, 2009
Text: Genesis 3:8-13
Summary: In the Beginning—THE FALL

Here we see the cataclysmic result of the fall of Adam & Eve and notice that, although Eve was deceived and sinned first, God holds Adam responsible. Man’s true identity is exposed in great detail in these few, yet powerful, verses.

On our first Sunday, August 9th we focused on chapter 1, an incredible passage that highlights many things about the creation of the cosmos. Some would focus on the creation itself and marvel or question how it was actually accomplished, or at least, over what period of time. But that is not the real point.

It is not about the how, but about the Who!

Moses was writing during a period when his people were struggling to hold their faith in one, true God, in the midst of both polytheism and pantheism. Inspired by the Spirit of God, Moses pens the book that declares emphatically, that Elohim, Yahweh, the one true God IS and He created all things!

In our gathering on Sunday, August 23rd we moved on to the second chapter and learned about God’s Sabbath rest and incredible details about our humanity—made in His Image! Finding out what God had in mind when he created us male and female teaches us a lot about who, why and what we really are.

On Sunday, September 6th, at our final preview gathering, we will discover that what started out as a wonderful love story, unfortunately ends in tragedy. Man’s fall from God’s intended position and place for them is certainly tragic, however we see hope in both the judgment of God, the punishment necessary for sin, and in the foreshadowing of God’s redemptive plan for us in Jesus Christ!

What a wonderful discovery of the depths of this great book—Genesis! Hope to see you there!
