We are followers of the one true Jesus Christ, who love God, love our neighbours and love Squamish. We value Jesus above all, authenticity, creativity and generosity and seek to engage our culture with the amazing grace of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We don’t pretend to have our lives all together, but we do turn our lives over to an awesome God who does.</itunes:summary>

As a new church it has been our hope and prayer to simply see our Small Group Communities become a place where we begin to live out what we see in the early church, found in Acts 2:42-47, where their desire to be together was so strong that they met together from house to house throughout the week, eventually fulfilling the Lord’s key command that they love one another.

After almost one year since The Rock’s first small group in our home, we are so thankful to see the vast majority of men and women who have made The Rock their church committing to small group and therefore to each other in such a faithful and heartfelt way. The sense of community that we see developing and growing is very encouraging!

As a result, we now believe it is time to introduce a way for us to make our study time even more meaningful and deeper still. Below are two PDF’s that will give you more information on what we are introducing for our Small Group Bible studies.

The first PDF is the ‘Gospel of Matthew Curriculum and Guide Outline‘ which contains an explanation of the method we recommend, Inductive Bible Study, as well as an outline of the Gospel of Matthew: Introduction, Authorship, Date, etc.. This document contains valuable information that will take your bible study to another level and, as a result, our small group study times will truly be deeper and more meaningful.

The second PDF, Additional Sunday Content for June 13 • Matt 5:33-37 – is the Study Guide for this week’s message and next week’s Small Group Communities. Please print this page out for your personal study time and consider bringing it to church with you on Sunday to make further notes.

In the future, these weekly Study Guide Outlines will be uploaded here every Friday by 12 Noon for you to download. They will be posted as ‘Additional Sunday Content – ASC‘ and with that week’s message title and verses.

Looking forward to going deeper in His Word with you!

As a church we have been studying the Gospel of Matthew and in the first 4 chapters two words by Jesus clearly stand out to anyone who has ears to hear—Follow Me! These words are those that his first disciples heard as they were tending their fishing nets along with their father.

The Bible says that “immediately” they left their nets and boats, their father, family and homes and followed Jesus. From that day forward they were his disciples and he began to fulfill his promise that he made to them when he called them. That promise was that he would, “make them fishers of men.” In other words he was saying that he would make them into disciple-makers.

The Gospel of Matthew ends with one of the most famous quotes from Jesus—The Great Commission. In 28:19-20 Jesus said,

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Our plan between this date and Christmas, is to work through the first 4 chapters of this incredible letter to the church in Rome which was written by the Apostle Paul sometime around 57 A.D. while he was in Corinth.

At Christmas we will begin a series on the Gospel of Matthew and return to the next 4 chapters of Romans after we finished Matthew.

We began by looking at the first 15 verses of chapter 1 which is one of the longer introductions to any of Paul’s letters or epistles. As an introduction to the series and the letter, we looked into Paul’s upbringing, education and dramatic conversion to faith in Jesus Christ when he, a man who was committed to murdering Christians, came face-to-face with the risen Jesus.

These first 15 verses tell us lot about his purposes for wanting to visit Rome, none of which were more poignant than the last verse when he declares, “ I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.”

Romans Chapter 1:1-15
