Romans: The Gospel of God

Romans Chapter 1:1-15

We begin by looking at the first 15 verses of chapter 1 which is one of the longer introductions to any of Paul’s letters or epistles. As an introduction to the series and the letter, we looked into Paul’s upbringing, education and dramatic conversion to faith in Jesus Christ when he, a man who was committed to murdering Christians, came face-to-face with the risen Jesus.

These first 15 verses tell us lot about his purposes for wanting to visit Rome, none of which were more poignant than the last verse when he declares, “I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.”

Romans Chapter 1:16-17

This week we consider verses 16 & 17 in Romans Chapter 1. These two verses are Paul’s thesis for the whole letter and he will take the next 16 chapters to expound, expand and unpack the meaning of these two wonderful verses in the Bible.

In this message we took the opportunity to look at the definition of the true Gospel of God and how it is a radical new worldview that will change the whole world and the lives of those who accept Jesus as their Savior.

Romans Chapter 1:18-32

In this week’s message podcast we continue our study in the book of Romans from verses 1:18-32. Following on from our look into the Gospel of God, these final 14 verses bring us face-to-face with an aspect of God’s character and nature that most Christians, let alone unbelievers, have great difficulty understanding—God’s Wrath. In this study we will see what God had to say in Isaiah 55:8, “Your thoughts are not my thoughts, and your ways are not my ways, says the Lord,” applies well to our understanding God’s Wrath.
