SUNDAY GATHERINGs
From the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, The Rock Church has taken seriously the guidance of our provincial health officers and have followed their public health regulations. All along we’ve known there will be varieties of opinions on these orders within our church family, as well as differing levels of comfortability. All we continue to ask of you is to remember to be gracious to one another as we work out our differences in Christian love.
IN-PERSON UPDATE • NOVEMBER 19, 2021
General Policy on Masks—Our Provincial Health Office (PHO) continues to allow in-person gatherings for church services with no restrictions. Since reopening was allowed last August the PHO RECOMMENDED masks but they were not mandated. On that note, may we ask in Christian love for one another, that some of us consider wearing a mask in certain settings even though they are not mandated but simply out of courtesy for those who remain concerned for various health and safety reasons.
Main Level Area—The main floor area of The Ledge falls under the PHO guidelines for church gatherings and therefore masks are recommended but not mandatory. We would encourage everyone to consider wearing a mask upon entry and while in the front cafe area or to move as quickly as possible to the main gathering area where masks are recommended but not mandated.
Upstairs Overflow Area—The upstairs overflow area will continue to be a safe space for those who wish to wear masks throughout the service. We ask therefore that anyone accessing this area and planning on remaining in that space to watch the service wear a mask at all times. Parents registering their children for KidsRock are asked to socially distance from those in the overflow area and return to the main floor area as quickly as possible.
KidsRock Area—As per our October 17th Update masks were required for children 5 years of age and up. This was a temporary measure in response to several exposures in our local schools and concerns of several parents related to their children and teachers who are immune compromised. During the past 4 weeks we were the only church in Squamish and in our denomination throughout the Lower Mainland to require masks for children 5+ however the decision was based on our unique concerns within our church family. As of this week we note that exposures and test positive cases of Covid-19 in the Sea-to-Sky region have dropped and therefore, as of Sunday, November 21st, masks will NOT BE REQUIRED for children 5 years of age and up however, like the main floor area masks are recommended.
SUMMARY—Masks are recommended but not mandated on the main floor. Masks are required for those sitting and watching the service in the upstairs overflow area. Children 5+ attending KidsRock are not required to wear masks.
We will also continue with our Live Stream Sunday Services on Facebook Live and via our website for those who are unable to attend or need to stay home for health and safety reasons.
